Take a break from the city lighting and head out to find the Northern Lights. Our guides are specialists, they will choose the right day and moment so that you will definitely see the aurora borealis in all its glory. We travel by jeep, which means the personal service of our guides.
Due to the constant changes in the weather, you never know where the best conditions are. As a destination we can choose the National Park in Thingvelllir or Borgarfjordur, which is a beautiful fjord in the west of Iceland, but that’s not all. There are many more places worth seeing.
The northern lights are a natural phenomenon caused by a chemical reaction in the Earth’s atmosphere. Gaseous particles collide with electrically charged particles and atoms released from the solar atmosphere. These solar particles are blown towards the Earth by the solar wind and can pass into both the northern and southern hemispheres due to the weak magnetic field at the poles. This is the reason why we only see these dancing lights near the North Pole (Auroras Borealis) and the South Pole (Auroras Australis).
We never know where the best conditions will be. The weather is changing fast and the destinations are different. We can go to the Thingvelllir National Park, Reykjanes (South Peninsula) which is covered with lava and extreme landscape or Borgarfjordur which is a beautiful fjord in the west of Iceland, just to name a few.
This natural phenomenon occurs due to chemical reactions in the Earth’s atmosphere. Different colors evoke different molecules. Oxygen makes the most common, such as yellow-green, and nitrogen produces blue / purple-red.
